Welcome to Animations
Online!
Animations is a quarterly online magazine run by the
Puppet Centre Trust. It is a voice for contemporary
puppetry and related theatre forms, offering discussion
and debate, reviews, and news from the puppet community
and elsewhere. It’s an essential read for anyone
interested in puppetry in all its diverse manifestations.
Animations Online aims to represent the full spectrum
of professional practice, from traditional puppetry
to experimental visual theatre using puppetry or animation.
Features
in this edition of Animations: Puppets
on the Fringe – our round-up of
the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2006; a look at The
Art of Puppetry, by which we mean the
uses and abuses of puppetry within fine art practice;
and a round-up of responses to the Scottish
Arts Council’s Potential of Puppetry Review.
There’s also a Preview of the
London
International Mime Festival 2007.

we have a short but informative report on the Polish
Schools of Puppetry event in June 2006.
In our Reviews
section, there’s the usual eclectic
mix including reports from the Buxton Puppet Festival.
The News
and Noticeboard section is the place
to read about the current and future plans of puppeteers
and puppet-theatre companies, and to catch up on other
news and events.
So
that's the Autumn/Winter edition of Animations Online
for you. We hope to be back online for Spring 2007;
in the meantime we will be producing our eagerly awaited
Animations In Print Annual, featuring the best of
Animations Online 2006, plus a selection of newly
commissioned articles. Available to order from the
Puppet Centre Trust.
As
always, your feedback is very welcome. We look forward
